Workshops with a Purpose

Kijabe, Kenya

In 2013 I joined  Workshops with Purpose to work on a  team of media professionals in Kijabe, Kenya. This team, led by photographers Kevin Kubota, Benjamin Edwards, and Andrew & Marianne Nicoderm, the goal of the team was to create a professional media outlet for Kijabe Hospital: documenting the story of the hospital, its staff and patients. To say that this was a life changing experience for me is a huge understatement.  Kijabe Hospital is like no place I had ever encountered. Kenyans from miles away would travel miles to be treated at "God's hospital," where regardless of financial situation, ethnicity, or religion, every patient was treated. We heard about and witnessed miracles before our eyes.  The photographs and video that we shot were collected into a central database which was then later used to update the hospital's website and marketing kit. In 2014 we were invited to speak at The Wedding & Portrait Photographers International Conference about our experience. Please contact Workshops with a Purpose for more information about their projects and/or how to launch your own. www.workshopswithpurpose.com
