Danny + Jodie
est. 9.26.16, Hatteras Island, NC
I’ve been shooting Hatteras Island destination weddings for over 15 years. And since the beginning, my first question to our Hatteras clients is, “What made you choose Hatteras Island as your destination wedding location?” Let’s face it, Hatteras Island isn’t “close” to any place besides the Atlantic Ocean. The closest major airports are 3 to 4 1/2 hours away. There are many more easily accessible destinations to choose from when planning a destination wedding. Couples have to make a deliberate decision to go off the beaten path when they choose to get married on Hatteras.
Case and Point: Danny and Jodie.
Danny and Jodie, who hail from London, England, could have chosen to have their destination wedding anywhere in the world. Hatteras certainly wasn’t close to any of their family. In fact, it wasn’t even on the same continent. But as they researched wedding locations, the charm of Hatteras Island struck them. They found The Inn on Pamlico Sound, a boutique bed and breakfast, nestled on Pamlico Sound. They fell in love with its intimate location, serene ambiance, and natural beauty. The Inn on Pamlico Sound offered everything that they were looking for: a naturally stunning environment, miles of undeveloped beaches, incredible food, and 5 star accommodations. Their ceremony was held within a stone’s throw of the water on the Inn’s private beach. For Danny and Jodie, it was the perfect destination wedding location, well worth going off the beaten path.
We wanted to document their day to reflect all of the reasons that they chose Hatteras Island as a destination wedding location. Hopefully we’ve succeeded in that. I am grateful we had the opportunity to work with an incredible couple who really value a place we are honored to call home.
